Between 19 -21 July, hundreds of aircraft took to the skies over Gloucestershire鈥檚 RAF Fairford as part of this year鈥檚 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).

A highlight in the aviation calendar, the word-renowned event featured 248 aircraft from 29 nations, wowing spectators with exciting flying displays and static aircraft exhibits.

Thrilled to return to the event, we enjoyed a busy chalet over the three days as we welcomed customers and industry partners.

On the opening day of the event, we were delighted to announce our partnership with Uplift360 to recycle and repurpose defence equipment 鈥 an exciting step forward in exploring how we can sustainably manage end-of-life assets.

For the first time, we were thrilled to be part of the RAF Experience, an area where visitors can immerse themselves in everything RAF 鈥 from recruitment and training to combat and logistics. At our stand, young aviation enthusiasts had the chance to sit in an ejector chair and test their paper aeroplane making skills. With our General Logistics Vehicle on display and some excellent STEM activities on offer to demonstrate our exciting early careers opportunities, our graduates and apprentices were on hand to inspire the young attendees.

We also celebrated the 50th birthday of the Hawk at the event, and 60 years of the iconic Red Arrows, who took to the skies on all three days. We鈥檙e proud to support the Royal Air Force鈥檚 fleet of 28 Hawk T2 jets, providing both forward and depth maintenance to the display team.

Thank you to all involved in this year鈥檚 event for making it another resounding success.

香港六合彩中特网 and Uplift360 partner to explore recycling and repurposing defence equipment /news/babcock-and-uplift360-partner-to-explore-recycling-and-repurposing-defence-equipment/ Fri, 19 Jul 2024 11:59:47 +0000 /?p=107896

We have signed an agreement with Uplift360, a deep tech company developing chemical technologies, to recycle advanced materials.

Announced on the opening day of the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), the partnership will explore a turnkey solution for managing and recycling composite materials from defence equipment.

It will also look at recycling high-value composite materials from the UK defence industry that can be repurposed for other applications through a process known as circular economics, which essentially means that products and materials can be kept in circulation through processes such as refurbishment, remanufacture and recycling.

As supply chain experts, we will engage with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) on how it can sustainably manage end-of-life assets.

Tom Newman, CEO of 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 Land business, said: 鈥淎s a business, we鈥檙e committed to reducing our carbon footprint and assisting our customers to achieve their net zero ambitions.

鈥淭his partnership is an exciting step forward in understanding how we can breathe new life into redundant assets that can be recycled and repurposed before going back into circulation.鈥

Sam Staincliffe, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Uplift360, added: 鈥淲e are very excited to be working with a company such as 香港六合彩中特网 who share the same goals and ambitions as our team. We see great value in end-of-life waste across defence, aerospace and space and with this partnership we can unlock real value both environmentally and financially, contributing to supply chain resiliency.鈥

香港六合彩中特网 has been awarded a contract extension by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to continue supporting urgent operational requirements for Ukraine鈥檚 military land assets.

The contract extension means 香港六合彩中特网 will continue providing vital equipment support services to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, keeping their vehicles available for operations and, where needed, returning them to service as quickly as possible.

The framework agreement with the UK MOD, means that as well as maintaining military vehicles and equipment, 香港六合彩中特网 will manage the supply chain and spares while continuing to train the Ukrainian military to conduct the repairs themselves.

香港六合彩中特网 has been steadfast in its support to Ukraine, performing this role for the last 12 months. From July 2024, it will now deliver another critical period of support for the Ukrainian armed forces, with further options to extend beyond this date.

Currently providing the maintenance, repair and asset management of British Army vehicles and equipment in the UK, the contract extension demonstrates 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 ability to provide critical operational support internationally.

David Lockwood, 香港六合彩中特网 CEO said: 鈥淯kraine鈥檚 military need their critical defence assets to be operational; this contract extension enables 香港六合彩中特网 to get vehicles and equipment back onto operations as quickly as possible.

鈥淥ur significant experience and expertise on these platforms, coupled with our understanding of the supply chain, really increases the reliability and availability of these important assets for the Ukrainian armed forces, when they need it most鈥.

Maria Eagle, Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry said: 鈥淪ince Russia鈥檚 illegal invasion, equipment developed by UK defence companies has been critical to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

鈥淭his agreement will get vital equipment back on the battlefield at pace and strengthen Ukraine鈥檚 fight.鈥

In June 2021, 香港六合彩中特网 signed a Memorandum of Implementation (MoI) with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the UK Government and has been delivering technical and engineering support to Ukraine鈥檚 military from the wider region since July 2023.  Military assets that 香港六合彩中特网 has been supporting over the last year include platforms donated by the UK Ministry of Defence under the various tranches of financial and non-financial support provided by the UK.

香港六合彩中特网 delivers new Airbus H145 helicopter to support South Australia鈥檚 emergency services /news/babcock-delivers-new-airbus-h145-helicopter-to-support-south-australias-emergency-services/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 08:30:57 +0000 /?p=107477

A new Airbus H145 helicopter with enhanced capability has taken to the skies across South Australia after being delivered to the State Rescue Helicopter Service (SRHS). The 香港六合彩中特网 owned, operated, and maintained aircraft will be used exclusively by South Australia Police (SAPOL) as part of its law enforcement efforts.

The latest generation aircraft is quieter, faster, lighter, more manoeuvrable and more fuel efficient than existing aircraft within the fleet, providing greater operational scope and responsiveness to SAPOL, and as the H145鈥檚 state-of-the-art design significantly reduces its noise profile, making it almost 10 times quieter than the outgoing aircraft. It also uses 35% less fuel, saving around 3.6 tonnes in CO2 emissions each year. These improvements benefit both the communities the aircraft serves and the crew who operate it.

Four new pilots have also been recruited and trained by 香港六合彩中特网 as part of its long-standing commitment to enhancing SRHS鈥檚 operational capabilities. These additional crewmembers create a valuable third line of flying for emergency service personnel.

The Airbus aircraft is one of two replacement helicopters to be provided by 香港六合彩中特网 this year, as part of a AUS$150 million, four-year contract extension with the SRHS. The second aircraft 鈥 a Bell 412 EP 鈥 will be configured specifically for SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) medical rescues and retrievals. It is scheduled to arrive in December. The aircraft will allow for better resourcing during times of peak operation and relieve pressure on existing services.

香港六合彩中特网 Australasia CEO Andrew Cridland said: 鈥淥ne of 香港六合彩中特网 Australasia鈥檚 key remits is to create a safe and secure world, together, and we are proud to be partnering and supporting the State Rescue Helicopter Service here in South Australia, where we are headquartered.鈥

鈥淲e are also extremely pleased to be able to deliver this latest generation aircraft with a configuration that has been designed in collaboration with SAPOL to best suit its needs. This new twin-engine helicopter will provide a critical uplift in capability for South Australia Police, giving officers onboard the tools they need to fulfil their duties to maximum effect as they combat crime and protect the community,鈥 he added.

Each year on average, the state鈥檚 emergency fleet completes a combined 1,300 missions, equating to more than 2,000 flying hours.

South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the cutting-edge resource promised to keep the force agile and revolutionise police operations across metropolitan areas. 鈥淭his modern addition enhances our operational capabilities and ensures a safer South Australia for all residents,鈥 he commented.

The Airbus H145 is currently undergoing rigorous training, with pilots, aircrew and police Tactical Flight Officers honing their skills to ensure seamless integration into SAPOL鈥檚 existing capabilities. Upon completion of training, the new aircraft will replace the current SAPOL Bell 412 helicopter, which will continue to operate alongside it during the training period. This strategic transition ensures uninterrupted service while embracing modern technology.

Christian Venzal, Managing Director Airbus Helicopters in Australia and New Zealand, said. 鈥淎irbus is proud to equip the South Australian Police Force and 香港六合彩中特网 with the most advanced five-bladed H145 helicopter available for law enforcement missions. As the quietest helicopter in its class, along with its leading safety and performance capabilities, we look forward to seeing the H145 supporting critical operations while serving and protecting the community of South Australia.鈥

The SRHS operates 24 hours a day, year-round, providing critical emergency response across the state. It specialises in aeromedical retrievals from rural hospitals and accident scenes, search and rescue missions on-land and at sea and airborne law enforcement.

香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 medium wheelbase General Logistics Vehicle on display at Eurosatory /news/babcocks-medium-wheelbase-general-logistic-vehicle-on-display-at-eurosatory/ Tue, 18 Jun 2024 12:00:25 +0000 /?p=106595 香港六合彩中特网 has taken the wraps off its new medium wheelbase variant of the General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) at Eurosatory this week.

With reliability at its core, ensuring higher availability of critical assets, the medium wheelbase variant joins its long wheelbase sibling as the second member of the growing GLV family of vehicles, designed and delivered by 香港六合彩中特网.

Under the bonnet is a 2.8-litre engine achieving 200bhp and 370lb/ft of torque which, married to a six-speed, automatic gearbox with high and low range transfer provides the GLV with formidable, affordable off-road capability. With a 39-degree approach angle, 276 mm ground clearance, a wading depth up to 1.8 meters and boasting a class-leading 12.6 metre turning circle, it is deployable in all terrains across the globe.

This medium wheelbase GLV is set to attract similar levels of interest to the long wheelbase variant, unveiled at last year鈥檚 DSEI, thanks to its ability to deliver a range of roles and requirements for the military.

The four individual crew seats and storage capacity for a four-person team to comfortably stow what is required for a 72-hour patrol, will ensure that crew degradation is minimised over long journeys. These adaptations make it the perfect command and control vehicle or small team patrol vehicle.

The GLV family is built around the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series platform and combines Toyota’s 70-year heritage in off-road cars with our rich engineering history of developing bespoke and formidable vehicles for military and security customers.

It can fulfil a multitude of tasks for the armed forces, offering a common vehicle base with variant modules that meet the needs of different missions across multiple theatres of operation. The GLV is also equipped with unique military body enhancements which put crew safety and comfort to the fore.

Chris Spicer, Managing Director of Engineering and Systems Integration within 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 Land business said:

鈥淭his hugely reliable GLV family provides military and security forces with a complete value for money solution for light-utility vehicles, increasing the availability of these critical assets. 香港六合彩中特网 has a deep understanding of the armed forces through years of partnering and that is applied to our engineering so we can offer militaries the best possible vehicle for operational success. We鈥檙e very proud to present the second of our GLV family in the last nine months.鈥

Key takeaways:

  • Shorter wheelbase enabling greater mobility across difficult terrain
  • Tightest turning circle in its class (12.6m)
  • 4 individual crew seats
  • Storage capability for 4-person to stow requirements for 72 hour patrol

The partnership was launched during an educational visit by ASI students to RAF Wittering, where they had the opportunity to meet with 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 air traffic control team and aviation maintenance technicians to learn more about the industry.

Chloe Barker, Managing Director of 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 UK aviation business, said: 鈥淐ollaboration between industry and education is so important in supporting young people entering the workplace. Our partnership with the ASI will enable us to create a path for students to explore a practical, hands-on career in aviation, while continuing their education and building on an exciting career path.鈥

Tom Marsden, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer at the Lincoln College Group, added: 鈥淚t is fantastic to welcome such a significant defence company to the ASI family. 香港六合彩中特网 will help support our students through their studies and offer potential routes for employment or apprenticeship training as the partnership develops.鈥

In addition to 香港六合彩中特网 Skills Academy, this partnership with ASI aims to improve the learning experience for students, providing them with access to cutting-edge industry knowledge and opportunities.
